Review: Neutrogena Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer

Picked this baby up on account of boredom. The boys are still lying lifelessly from the BBQ last night so I did what I do best when I'm I needed a light base for my face because of how often I wear makeup, and the only time I have patience for a fully covered face is when I'm going out at night and I know I'm going to be taking it off in less than 5 hours. This product (w/o looking at any reviews) really surprised me because it feels like i'm wearing nothing on my face, and covers my imperfections and evens out my skintone that a regular powder can't do. (FYI: none of these pictures are photoshopped - I just don't know how to use it!)
Before Picture: Bare Face/No Makeup whatsoever (aghk! I know!)
After (just the tinted moisturizer): lightly covers some freckles, dark pores, and evens out my skintone
After Picture: Neutrogena Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer 40 Medium to Tan; MAC studio Careblend Medium Plus; Bobbi Brown Corrector in Bisque; MAC prolong wear concealer in NW25; NYC Sunny Bronzer; Blush MAC blushcreme Lillicent; Mascara in L’oreal Voluminous & Covergirl LashBlast; Highlighter in Bootsno7 high lights Illuminating Lotion; MAC lipglass Lust; MAC Fix+

Remember, this is only a tinted moisturizer, so any ladies that want the full on coverage should run away from this product. The only con I can think of with this is that while at the store this color is the darkest that I can find, and I'm not sure if there are any more colors darker than this one :(. For reference, in MAC I'm NC30-35, Graftobian I'm Desert Sand & Bobbi Brown I'm 4.25.

Till Next Time! :)

  1. Finally someone who knows makeup! What skin type do you have? I am asking because I have the oily/dry combo skin and not everything works very well for me. It'd be nice knowing how to compare with what would work for me.

  2. Denise: Hi Love! Thank you so much :) and thanks for following me!!!

I have normal to dry combo, mostly normal though. I do get oily at times and when I do, it's usually on the T-zone :(

This product has illuminating effects, so it does give you some shine to make your face looks brighter. I did see a little bit of glitter effects, but not enough to make you look like a disco ball.

The product is so sheer anyway that I doubt it will give a big effect on the skin that you already have right now, other than evening out your skin tone and covering some pores/ smallest pimples. Let me know if you end up trying it! hopefully it works out for you :)

  3. This is great !! I love how you makeup came out so natural. just found your blog and I'm following. hope you can go check my blog too :)
