Behind The Scenes: Actress Pauline Price

Had a photo shoot recently with the beautiful actress Laurine Price and photographer Judy Wang. Laurine has a long list of performances with theatre and now she wants to get into film & tv. We went for headshots for her business card as well as glamour shots for her portfolio.

Isn't Laurine gorgeous? She reminds me of Shannyn Sossamon(40 days 40 nights) and Maggie Grace (Lost & Taken). These pictures were for her headshots. Some of her poses later on in the day were out of this world.

I had such a great time with Laurine and Judy! They were so nice and so wonderful to work with. Please check out the links for their current information. I will show you the finished pictures soon!

Until Next Time! :)

Before & After: Purple Passion

I love playing makeup! One of my girlfriends Pauline came over last night and wanted something different than her usual routine. She's absolutely beautiful without any makeup so I really didn't need to do much except play up her eyes and even out her skin tone.

Pauline: Before
Pauline: After

Pauline's eyes are what you would call "puppy dog eyes." Beautiful, big & very round. Her natural eye shape droops down a little bit so to lift it up I winged her eyeliner higher. Purple is such a great color on everyone and in my opinion is the most universally flattering color on every skin tone. Also, never underestimate the power of false eyelashes & contouring... they do WONDERS to any makeup application.

MAC Lipstick in Crosswires

There's really a lot of different lipsticks in MAC that don't get too much love, probably because of the different hype (albeit, worth it) that other lipsticks get. MAC Crosswires is definitely a lipstick that people don't talk about too often. I would know this because it wasn't until recently that I found out about this lipstick... and that's because I stayed at the MAC counter for over 30 minutes swatching every single lipstick for my B2M. Is that sad? does anyone else know my pain?

Anyway, from my opinion, MAC Crosswires is a really pretty pinky-coral and what I would call "the shy girl's bright lipstick." I say this because it's not an overly dramatic shade but just enough to give that pop of color when you need it. For my skin tone it works very well... and it has become on the top of my list as my favorite coral. It is a cremesheen which is ALSO my favorite type of MAC lipstick because it's not very drying, glides on smooth, very opaque and has a small glisten to it.

Until Next Time! :)

The "No Makeup" Makeup Look | Makeup Play

I can't count how many times I've heard different people that give makeup a bad name. Whether they say comments like "you look like a clown," "take off your mask," & "is there someone in there?" among others. Not trying to generalize, but most of it come from MEN, or people for that matter who don't know what makeup is about. People wear makeup in different ways, but 99% of the time you can guarantee that people put makeup on because they feel so much better. It's a confidence booster, it's a "quick surgery," it's a lifestyle.

What bothers me the most are people who are too ignorant to see this and they just go on blabbing about how it looks awful or they comment by asking "what are you trying to hide?" not knowing that this is what people do to feel good. So in the end, to the people who don't understand & who make comments... SHUT THE FUCK UP. The world would be a much better place without your judgement. Also, to the people who don't like to wear makeup and feel comfortable or happy about it... more power to you! There's no judgement in this house of love.

Was that too much of a rant? Anyway, it's funny how sometimes people (like some certain men) would rather see you w/ no makeup, not knowing that sometimes, to look like you're not wearing any makeup... you have to wear it. Confused?

me, with no makeup on whatsoever.

and here's me, w/ some makeup on.
hopefully you can tell the WORLD of difference a little foundation, concealer & blush do. My skin is more even, it's a little brighter and you can seriously tell by my smile... I'm really much much happier.

Until Next Time! :)

Finally...

Man, I haven't updated in SO LONG! Apologies to anyone who reads this blog and has been wondering where I went. I'm not even going to sugar coat it and come up with reasons as to why I went on hiatus... except that ever since I started my makeup gigs on the side (apart from my 9-5), I've been extremely tired and all I wanted to do on my downtime is sleep. But anyway, I'm done with going through the long hiatus and hopefully I'll be on track with doing my first love: blogging! ESPECIALLY about makeup! :)

For the past couple (?) weeks, this is the first time I found the opportunity to breathe. So to kickstart this blog back into gear, here's a few things I did makeup wise for the past days I've been absent in the blogging world:
  • FINALLY received my makeup certificate! I'm officially a professional makeup artist!
  • FINALLY ordered the well received MUFE Flash palette and I'm so in love!
  • Had about 5+ gigs over the past weeks from a documentary, to a fashion show, to various photo shoots.
  • purchased B2M lipsticks: Crosswires & Up the Amp
  • Currently searching for a makeup traincase at a decent price (anyone who has suggestions please let me know)
  • In the process of taking an FX course, so I can make fake scars, bruises, stab wounds, fake blood -- so excited!
  • have been obsessed with FULL eyebrows
  • my MAC PRO card is currently on it's way to me... yay to 40% off! :)

Here are some pictures taken from the past few weeks (sorry for the ugly images, these were mostly taken with my iPhone):

Had a wonderful opportunity to do makeup for a documentary about an upcoming R&B artist (lady in the picture is her cousin).

did makeup for a fashion show for Dani G Clothing for LA/OC Fashion Art Night out.

Had a studio photoshoot in Fountain Valley w/ 3 wonderful models. This specific girl looks like the complete carbon copy of Uma Thurman. So gorgeous!

Behind the scenes w/ our other gorgeous model (she wanted glamorous pictures/headshots for her future career in the entertainment industry)

Another model, very statuesque and beautiful. Our first look with her she had a clean face and black lipstick. This look is more for a night out. I will post pictures of this shoot when the pics are available.

One of my favorite reds: MAC Ruby Woo lipstick!

Recently my go-to for a nude lip: MAC lipstick in Modesty

Purchased MAC Spiked eyebrow pencil & it has CHANGED my life! I know some people oppose eyebrow pencils, but if it's dealt with a light hand it can look completely natural. (MAC Up the Amp is on my lips) -- Ladies, never over pluck your eyebrows!

Again, so sorry for being on hiatus... this won't happen ever again! Promise! :)

Until Next Time! :)

Review: Nars Lipstick in Schiap

It's very rare for me to wear a lipstick 3 days in a row, most especially now since I have an abundance of unloved lipsticks. NARS Schiap was definitely love at first wear. Schiap (ski-ap) is considered as a "shocking matte pink," and the word "bright" is definitely an understatement. It isn't for the faint hearted and it takes a while to get used to the color. It wears VERY well, around 6-8 hours w/ eating and drinking.  It's described as a semi-matte, but I did find this drying to my lips and I somehow needed to use chapstick on it after a long period of time. Though it is very drying, the color all the more makes up for it.

For me personally, this color is worn best when everything else in the face is very simple so as to give the lip color the attention it deserves. Now on to the pictures! :)

Until Next Time! :)
