Weekend in Makeup: 12/14/12-12/16/12

I realize my weekend in makeup posts aren't quite consistent.. but I still love making these blog entries! I suffered from lady problems* and the flu earlier in the week but still managed to spend some time with great friends! Some of the makeup/products I used this weekend:

Stayed home sick w/ the flu but managed to make myself look presentable using my new favorite lashes: Ardell Demi 102. (Loveeeee!) on Friday...

Went for a glamorous make-up look on one of my girlfriends for her Christmas party using eyeshadows: MAC Humid (inner and outer third), Gold in the Lorac Palette (middle), Taupe in the Lorac Palette (crease), Ardell Demi Wispies for lashes and my favorite Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl for her "glow" on Saturday...

& no makeup on Sunday, but I couldn't pass up a picture of ice cream & red wine! Two of my favorite things!

*I HATE LADY PROBLEMS!

Until Next Time! :)

Review: Rimmel London Kate Moss Lipsticks

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks: 04, 11, 14, 06

Yes, I know! ANOTHER lipstick review! Can you sense a trend? I picked up these babies not too long ago at Wal-Mart for a very very steep price of $3.97/each. I couldn't resist Kate Moss, the beautiful colors and the wonderful price point. More often than not drugstore lipsticks can be better than higher end lipsticks... at least if these didn't work out for me I wouldn't be too depressed over how much I paid :)

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick Swatches: 04, 11, 14, 06 (one swipe)

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 04 (two swipes on lips)

04 is a dark purple/grey tinged lipstick, somewhat reminiscent of an eggplant. Not going to lie this color was the most difficult one to apply just because of how patchy it first swiped and how much extra bleeding it crept over my lips. I didn't put any balm or lip liner to show the true effect of the colors... and 04 was very quick to bleed. Not only is it difficult to apply but it is a color that many people find jarring. This lipstick though I believe deserves a second chance w/ more love: lip brush application & lipliner (MAC Nightmoth maybe?). If put very meticulously it can look absolutely gorgeous and I think it's worth the extra effort.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 11 (two swipes on lips)

I would describe 11 as more of a muted red, neither strikingly too bright or vampy. It's a very pretty color that would work well to 'shy' individuals who are scared to rock this type of lippie.  This particular color lasted around 3-4 hours on the lips and when faded left a very beautiful stain.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 14 (two swipes on lips)

14 is brown/nude that can lean gray or mauve depending on the pigment on your lips. My lips are very pigmented so this color leaned a little bit more mauve on me. My face does look washed out with this color, but I can guarantee it would work very well with an intense smokey eye.

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 06 (two swipes on lips)

06 is a very pretty bright coral pink that would look PERFECT in the summer. It was such a flattering color on me and I believe it would work well on very many skin tones. It has that perfect "pop" that someone would want, or that "pick me up" that someone is craving. This was definitely my favorite color out of the bunch.

Though these colors are very beautiful they do also have some drawbacks. These lipsticks swiped very nicely on my lips, but after 30-45 minutes I find my lips becoming SO DRY. A very moisturizing lip balm is recommended when wearing these. Like previously mentioned, these lipsticks do have a slip and slide feel to it, so be wary of these if you don't decide to wear lipliner.

I've worn 11 and 06 before and they both lasted 3-4 hours on me before needing reapplication. The good thing about them is that when they do fade, it fades into a nice stain. These can be found at ULTA, CVS, Walgreens & Wal-Mart (from what I've personally seen).

BTW: If you're wondering what lashes I'm wearing: Ardell 102 Demi's (looooove!)

Have you ever tried these lipsticks? Any colors that you find more beautiful than these four? Let me know!

Until Next Time! :)

Taking "The Diva" out for a spin | Makeup Play

I have so many looks, products, reviews to share w/ everyone... I'm finding it to be a bit ridiculous! There are no excuses for me being gone for about 3 weeks...but I digress. This is a look that I wore to the movie theaters (Yes, it was when i watched James Bond for the first time about 3-4 weeks ago). I had just purchased the very lovely MAC lipstick in DIVA, so I wanted to take my new baby out for a spin.

Diva is a huge rage in the makeup lovers world, it's a cult classic and has been w/ MAC for very many years. It's the quintessential vamp/brick red that is very suitable across very many skin tones. If you 'google' this shade you'll see rave  reviews so here I am, just giving you a look that I wore w/ Diva being the main focus.
