Date Night: Simple Bronze Glow | Makeup Play

I wore this out on a date for a simple dinner & movie. I already posted before my "5 Minute Face" but when I have a little extra time AND I also want to look simple, this is the look I go for. Bronze, glowy & neutral. Obviously you can tell i'm trying to get that "J-Lo Glow." I know it's fall so I need to start embracing plums & berries...but I still can't help the 'bronze glow' effect. It probably will always be my staple all year around.

#Selfies - 2

Helllloooooooo! It's been over 1.5 months since my last #Selfie post and I intend to keep this going as a series! I tried doing a 'Lip 365' series but that failed MISERABLY. Reasons why:
  1. Because I am such a horrible sporadic blogger
  2. I almost never remember to take a picture of myself
  3. I don't wear makeup everyday
At least with this one there's more lee-way (sp?) and I can get away from instagram shy-ness and be more upfront/confident/conceited in my own personal blog. Anyway, unto the pictures! :D

I found the perfect 'juicy lips' color and it's the L'oreal Colour Riche Caresse Wet Shine Stain (say that 10x fast!) in Rose On and On

What you know about Kevyn Aucoin's Celestial Highlighting Powder in Candlelight?!

Wore this look to my cousins wedding using my Lorac Unzipped Palette (gorgeous nude browns!) and wearing L'oreal Colour Riche La Laque in Never Lacque-ing (#411).

Why the hell did I wait for so long to purchase Milani Blush in Luminoso? I was seriously missing out so much! Also, if you're wondering my gorgeous earrings are from Charlotte Russe :)

the new iOS7 camera filter in "Noir" makes my lips looks so plump and makes me look so much more attractive than I actually am.

The Kardashian Collection (Kollection?) Beauty Joystick Lip Lacquer in Babydoll & I are having a bit of a love affair right now.

L'Oreal Colour Riche La Laque Lip Color in Lacquer-ized (#412) | Review & Swatches

Ok, I am in looooooove with this color... It's so beautiful. So beautiful that I have 2 back ups in my stash and I'm contemplating on buying 2 more. Before you think I've gone too far to the dark side, this thing is limited edition. I'm not sure if they will ever bring back this lip product, let alone this color so imagine my concern that I had to buy backups on backups! It's a color that I think everyone can rock (screw the rules! do you! do and wear what makes you confident!) but unfortunately many will find this too obscene and I can understand why. In certain lights it looks pastel (such as the picture above) and in other lighting it screams neon (like the last two pictures).

L'oreal introduced this baby not too long ago and I know that it's still in stands right now. I found this one at my local Target. They have a lot of different colors, some in the 'matte' side and others in the 'lacquer' side. This one is a lacquer, glides unto the lips like butter, stays on like a lipstick & shines like a lipgloss. It's a twist up contraption, which is always better than sharpening and wasting product. Obviously the wear time isn't going to be as fabulous as a matte lipstick but the gorgeousness of this color justifies having to reapply it again every 2-3 hours - if you don't eat anything at all. I can't attest to drinking something if it will stay on, but you DEFINITELY need to reapply after you eat.

Needless to say, this is by far my favorite bright purple lipstick ever and it trumps MAC Violetta by a long shot (at least for me - though I still really love that color). Make sure to look for it at your local Target! Check out all the colors too... they're all so beautiful!

Lime Crime Velvetine in Red Velvet | Review & Swatches

There are a lot of things that I love about makeup but for the most part if I don't find it THAT necessary (keyword:that) or if I could justify already having it in my arsenal, then I can find the urge to resist buying it. Red lipstick, on the other hand, is something I always battle with and no matter how many times someone tells me "another red lipstick again? They all look alike!" I kindly tell them "NO, they DO NOT." because obvs, red lipstick is never the same as another red lipstick, amirite?

Anyway, this is my first foray into anything Lime Crime, and so far this is the only product that's caught my attention. It's supposed to be touted as very long lasting, matte, non budging, eat whatever the hell you want and it won't come off type of liquid lipstick. It starts off like lip gloss upon first application but dries within seconds. It has a doe foot applicator - nothing special, relative to many doe foot applicators that you find in lipgloss.

Let me tell you: THIS THING DOES NOT BUDGE. I used it last night when I went to the LA County Fair and it withstood eating: french fries, blooming onions, chicago dog, potato chips, and a hot fudge sundae. (I knowwwwww, I ate so much!) To be perfectly honest though after hour 2 it became drying so remember if you suffer from dry/chapped lips, it would be good to exfoliate and/or put lip balm before hand. By the time I got home, it was such a b*tch to take off and it took me about 2-3 cotton balls and makeup remover to completely take this thing off... I guess that's a good sign right?

This liquid lipstick can be found and bought on their website (google: Lime Crime Cosmetics) However, I bought this baby on Amazon for $18.00.

So far this thing is such a workhorse, and I thoroughly do not regret getting "another red lipstick." in regards to long lasting and comfortability, this liquid lipstick trumps any of the lipsticks I have within the same category.

Until Next Time! :)

#Selfies

Heyyooooooo!! I'm back from the dead -- as I always say every time I write a new post. Guys, let's talk about selfies. Now, I have an instagram and about 1/4 of my daily life is spent on it looking at -- you guessed it: makeup, women wearing makeup, men wearing makeup, babies wearing makeup... even animals wearing makeup. Even though I do love looking at makeup ESPECIALLY how it looks with different people, I can't get myself to muster up the courage to post pictures of myself for all the world (world? not really, i don't have very many followers) to see, let alone wanting to shoot myself thinking about if anyone is ever going to 'like' it.

That's why I think it's great that I have this semi-if-i'm-not-lazy-to-update (but I still love!) blog, and some people who still happen to look/read/enjoy my posts, can get a kick out of the stuff I'm wearing with these selfies. It's a win/win situation, I don't get pressure from the dreaded 'likes', not really wondering who thinks I'm stuck up (but really, who the hell cares?) and it goes into a more personal journal/blog instead of Instagram. I have a few selfies that I take in the comfort of my own iPhone 5 (anddd in private), so the quality isn't that great... but I figured almost one thing in my selfie picture pops out, so I'll share with you what I was wearing that day. Now on to business!

3 things that made this look complete: Lorac Unzipped Palette, Mac Nylon eyeshadow (inner corner) & my very new and very forever best friend : Tarte Amazonian Clay Brow Mousse in Medium Brown (eyebrows -- everyone! eyebrows make or break your face! don't neglect it!)

I personally don't find milky pinks to be flattering on me, I prefer more coral ones, like Pink in the Afternoon by Revlon.

Look at me! Look at me! it's MAC Ruby Woo! (chieee-oww!)

So-Glad-They're-Not-Discontinued-Anymore MAC #35 Lashes

The lighting is a bit off here because it was taken at my girlfriends house (while she was getting ready - not sure if she saw me take this) But the completion of this look is attributed to NARS Cruella Matte Lip Pencil... oh & since I've gotten a few comments if my eyes are real: It's all about Freshlook Colorblends in Honey baby!

That's it for now! What do you guys think? should I post a selfie series so I can do little quips like this every now and then? The shy-instagram-type in me would be really happy...

Until Next Time! :)

MAC Viva Glam I | Review & Swatches

Holy Perfect Red Batman! Not to seem too forward or anything, but finding the perfect red lipstick is about as hard as finding the perfect man. But once you find it you wanna love it, you wanna take care of it, and you never wanna let it go. (Did I just refer to men as 'it'?) Anyway, I've searched high & low looking for my perfect 'power' red...& I'm glad to say I've found it. I know Ruby Woo & Russian Red are high up there in the lipstick scale, but while they are both gorgeous in every way, something just seemed a little bit off. I have found perfection in MAC Viva Glam I and ladies, I'm never ever letting go!

Viva Glam I isn't too loud, it's not looking for attention, it's glamorous, it's the perfect classy red. I imagine this is what 'Old Hollywood Glamour' looks like. I'ts never too done & It's never too brash. This red would look great with a white tee & jeans, as well as a full blown gown down the red carpet. Can you tell that I love it soooooooo much?!

Viva Glam I has a little brick, a little blue, and some brown undertones in it. It doesn't scream as loud as Ruby Woo or Russian Red nor is it as dark as Diva.

Wanted to show Viva Glam I's lipstick in action with sunlight...

Until Next Time! :)

Smokey Eye Using One Eyeshadow | Makeup Play

Hellllooooooooooo! I know I've been MIA! Not sure if I still have people roaming around here reading/looking for any of my posts but nevertheless, thanks for reading again! :) So, Ok, I lied about it only being one eyeshadow because obviously there's a sheer light eyeshadow in the corner of my eye. Other than that though I only used one shadow for my whole lid and this is the baby I used:

Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow: No. 21 Midnight Brown

Not gonna go too into detail about this eyeshadow but the pigmentation in this baby is WONDERFUL. Smooth like butter & stays on all day. I am having a bit of conundrum paying $29 for others, but we'll see! (I'm such an addict!)

The technique I used was actually pretty simple: I applied a very generous amount of Midnight Brown to my lid and buffed out the eyeshadow a little above my crease using a blending brush (I used a MAC 217). I then used a pencil brush to smudge out the same color in my lower lashline. To add a little extra oomph to the eye I added MAC's Nylon eyeshadow in the inner corner. Easy Peasy!

Some eyeshadows that I LOVE using this technique with:  MAC Satin Taupe, MAC Club, MAC Brown Script, MAC Bronze, Urban Decay Smog, Urban Decay Dark Horse
