Hello loves! I know, scary right? I've been super sick this week and I'm finally starting to feel better... but obviously my face isn't :p. I decided to make a super quick post on a few tips/ tricks I do to go from looking like this...
...to this! ( a little bit more bearable, right?)
To be honest you guys, I don't get sick this often but when I do, the last thing I could be bothered with is having to think about my makeup. It's a battle already trying to deal with sneezing & coughing, let alone worrying about if your makeup still looks good and it isn't in weird places. These are just simple steps to use if YOU MUST/WANT to wear makeup, or you're going to an event that calls you to look at least a little decent.
Let's Get Started!
CLOCKWISE FROM TOP:
- Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glow Sheers in Medium-Tan
- Benefit Erase Paste in Medium
- Josie Maran 100% Argan Oil (Travel Size)
- Embryolisse Lait Creme Moisturizer
- Chanel Le Blush Creme De Chanel in Chamade
- MAC Prep + Prime CC Loose Powder in Adjust
- Stila Kitten Eyeshadow
- Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer in Light
- Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
- Maybelline Full N' Soft Mascara in Black
- Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait
The key to wearing makeup when feeling (extremely) sick at least for me is comfortability. I suffer from dry skin so to prep I make a chant to the moisture gods to give my skin some peace (half kidding) and apply my under eye and daytime moisturizer. To prep my eye I use my Josie Maran Argan Oil (#3) to make my very dark under eye circles look a little more plump and less dehydrated. I then use my Embryolisse Lait Creme Moisturizer (#4) for all over my skin. I've repurchased this moisturizer at least 10 times because it's just that good. You guys need to hop on the Embryolisse Bandwagon (no one will judge). When I'm feeling EXTRA dry, I apply Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour cream (not pictured) around the very dry areas. (how many times did I say dry in this paragraph?)
Next, I applied my eyebrows and a light base, Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glow Sheers in Medium-Tan (#1) all over my face w/ a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge(#9). I usually use a brush to put on my foundation but the sponge adds so much extra moisture to my skin. I find I prefer the complexion sponge to the Beauty Blender because of its shape and how much easier the application is. + it is only about $5.99 at Ulta while the Beauty Blender is $19.99 -- If you can avoid it, PLEASE try not to use a very heavy foundation. You will feel extremely uncomfortable throughout the day and it might make you look extra tired. Try looking for a base that will give you some luminosity. For oilier skin gals, setting with a very finely milled powder will do wonders for your skin. If you suffer from acne scarring, try having a very light base and spot concealing on the problem areas. Don't suffocate your skin! let it shine through!
Concealer is really the miracle here because it instantly livens up my face. As you can see from the previous pictures, I wasn't kidding about how dark my under eye circles are so it took me YEARS to find something that works for me. To cancel out the darkness I used a corrector first, which is the Benefit Erase Paste (#2). Using a peach/salmon corrector (orange if you have a darker skin tone) such as this one will cancel out the blues and purples under your eyes. I then use the Maybelline Instant Age Rewinder Concealer (#8) to extra conceal and highlight the high points of my face. To keep my corrector and concealer from creasing I use a very light dusting of MAC Prep + Prime CC Loose Powder in Adjust to set.
I really can't bother with contour so to liven up my face I used Chanel Le Blush Creme De Chanel in Chamade (#5), a beautiful rosy-pink color that just warms up my skin and gives me a beautiful glow. I would recommend using a cream blush just because it melts into the skin better and gives a more natural finish. Of course if your preference is powder, try going for one with some sheen so it gives life back into your tired complexion.
The eyes are the window to the soul, and you definitely don't want to miss this step if you're trying to look less tired and more awake. My eyes usually don't get too watery when I'm sick so I'm not very picky with my mascara. I used Maybelline Full N' Soft Mascara (#10) because it's non-fussy, very easy, and gives the best natural results. For gals whose eyes do get watery, try using a waterproof one... if you STILL are hesitant about it, there's no shame in using a clear mascara! ELF Cosmetics & Maybelline has some great ones. To brighten my eyes up a little more I, of course, used Stila Kitten Eyeshadow (#7) in the corners of my eyes -- any bright shade with shimmer will do. Doing so will add life back to your skin.
Last but not least, to finish off my look I used my tried and true, ultra comfortable, never fail, Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait (#11). Peach tones go so well with my skin tone and just brightens up my face. I'm never disappointed! If you haven't tried Revlon Lip Butter's yet, you're in for a really good treat because these babies pack a 1-2-3 punch in terms of glossiness, comfortability and pigment. If you guys wanna read my review on the lip butters you can click HERE. (beware! It's an old post & the pictures are horrible! LOL!)
I hope this post wasn't too long and I provided some tips/tricks/help! I'm so glad I'm almost over my sickness! Regularly scheduled posts are back in business :)
What makeup products do you use when you're sick?

Oh My God. Ladies. THIS IS MY JAM. This is my savior, my holy grail, my favorite product in the whole wide world. This is the one item I can rely on that makes me look like I took a quick dip into the Fountain of Youth. I am not kidding. THIS IS MY JAM.
Ola beauties! I've been scouring all the drugstores lately looking for all the new Milani makeup products. They came out with so many new items and to be honest, I went a little crazy...but so worth it. These babies are so intense and pigmented! Each lip only had one swipe and are very very bold. They are perfect for the Spring & Summer!

Hello Beauties! It feels like it's been a while since I last posted something ESPECIALLY since I promised myself that I would post 3-4 times a week...and I have a very good reason why: I hate my lighting. I've been trying to construct, deconstruct and shift things around to make my lighting look less orange (even with daylight bulbs!) but I think because of how my room is lofted and there's different types of lighting coming from downstairs, the hallway, and upstairs it's just screwing up with everything. ANYWAY, sorry for rambling... I'm getting a new light soon that will hopefully help and make me and the products that I show look less oompa loompa and more natural. Onward to the pictures!
